Advancing to 1st Job
Once you hit level 10 as a Beginner, head over to Henesys, take 2 portals right from the town, and keep going to the far right of the map to find the entrance to Nautilus Port. Continue right and enter the big whale submarine. You're now inside the Nautilus. Go right again a bit until you see a door with an upward arrow above it. Take that portal. Walk left until you see an NPC named Muirhat. Kairin's room is on his left. Talk to her and you'll be endowed with the abilities of a Pirate. You'll have a lvl 10 Knuckle and Gun in your equips inventory, as well as several sets of lvl 10 bullets, which are not rechargeable.

Gun-Pirate's Outset
The build in first job is fairly simple as the skills are easy to prioritize. Naturally, it's your story so you can do whatever you choose. The first build we present is the traditional 1st Job build, while the second gives up a Gunner fighting style for maximized training efficiency.

Standard Build
10-16: Double Shot
17: +1 Double Shot (MAX) & +2 Dash
18-19: Dash
20: +2 Dash (MAX) & +1 Somersault Kick
21-26: Somersault Kick
27: +1 Somersault Kick (MAX) & +2 Bullet Time
28-30: Bullet Time (11)

Skill Distribution at Lvl 30: 61 Points Total
• 20/20 Double Shot [MAX]
• 10/10 Dash [MAX]
• 20/20 Somersault Kick [MAX]
• 11/20 Bullet Time

SSK-First Build
10-16: Somersault Kick
17: +1 Somersault Kick & +2 Dash
18-19: Dash
20: +2 Dash (MAX) & +1 Bullet Time
21-23: Bullet Time
24: +1 Bullet Time (11) & +2 Double Fire
25-30: Double Fire (MAX)

Skill Distribution at Lvl 30: 61 Points Total
• 20/20 Somersault Kick [MAX]
• 10/10 Dash [MAX]
• 11/20 Bullet Time
• 20/20 Double Shot [MAX]

Build Explanations
It's pretty straightforward in first job: max your only attack first and then work on the skill that gives you speed. Remember that Dash can be activated by double-tapping the left or right arrow key, and that it's deactivated if you change directions or stand still for too long. Somersault Kick is maxed third. Although it will be nearly obsolete once you get Invisible Shot in 2nd job, S-Kick is still useful in the earlier lvls especially when wearing a spear. Max S-Kick hits 6 monsters, which comes in handy if you're outta room to shoot or outta bullets. Its dmg is decent as well, since it has a much higher atk % than Double Fire does. Quick Motion is added last, and left at 11. Since a Gunner's main stat is DEX, the acc and avoid boosts from Quick Motion are minimal and unnecessary in comparison. The extra 9 avoid from maxing Quick Motion is valuable, but not as much as the mobbing advantage that comes with S-Kick. You can choose to max Quick Motion and leave S-Kick at 11, or you can max S-Kick and max Quick Motion at the end of 2nd Job [recommended].

The SSK-first build aims to optimize leveling speed via mobbing. It can be left at 11 or maxed, but if you plan to give up toting a gun in favor of acrobatic mobbing, it's recommended to go the distance and max out SSK completely. Those who follows this build are advised to equip high-weapon attack items, i.e. a warrior weapon like a spear as your weapon of choice. Sapphire8 coined the term "Spearslinger" for players who favor SSK first. If you go this build, you can set Double Fire aside to be maxed later on, or even last.

The 2nd Job Advancement
Once you're level 30, go see Kairin. After clicking the "Tell me more about Pirates" option, she'll send you to a special map where you'll be tested for your 2nd Job. You'll have to kill the octopi that are scattered about and collect 15 black crystals to bring back to Kairin. But remember, you can only use Double Fire to hurt the octopi. All other attacks automatically miss. Once you've collected 15 crystals, exit the map and talk to Kairin to advance to Gunslinger.

Gunslinger's Path
30: Invisible Shot
31-36: Gun Mastery
37: +2 Gun Mastery (MAX) & +1 Invisible Shot
38-43: Invisible Shot (MAX)
44-45: Gun Booster (6)
46: Wings
47: +2 Wings (5) & +1 Recoil Shot
48-53: Recoil Shot
54: +1 Recoil Shot (MAX) & +2 Wings (7)
55: Wings (MAX)
56-61: Blank Shot
62: +1 Blank Shot (MAX) & +1 Gun Booster (7)
63-66: Gun Booster
67: +1 Gun Booster (MAX) & +1 Bullet Time
68-69: Bullet Time
70: +1 Bullet Time (MAX) & +2 Grenade (2)

Skill Distribution at Lvl 70: 121 Points Total
• 20/20 Gun Mastery [MAX]
• 20/20 Invisible Shot [MAX]
• 20/20 Recoil Shot [MAX]
• 10/10 Wings [MAX]
• 20/20 Blank Shot [MAX]
• 20/20 Gun Booster [MAX]
• 20/20 Bullet Time [MAX]
• 2/20 Grenade

The 3rd Job Advancement
Once you're level 70, go see Pedro [the 3rd Job Pirate instructor] in El Nath. The procedure is the same as other 3rd Jobs [quiz and boss fight with the 1st Job Instructor]. The Door of Dimension is in Cave of Evil Eye II in the Ant Tunnel.

Outlaw's Tricks
This is where things get tricky. Razz Options for builds here are very broad, and for this reason, we originally presented you with two similar builds and one that was vastly different. But because of CWK part 2's release and the many suggestions we got from other Outlaws and Corsairs, we decided to standardize everything into one solid, all-encompassing build.

70-76: Burst Fire
77: +1 Burst Fire (MAX) & +1 Gaviota (1) & +1 Ice Splitter (1)
78-85: Ice Splitter
86: +1 Ice Splitter (26) & +2 Flamethrower (2)
87-95: Flamethrower
96: +1 Flamethrower (MAX) & +1 Homing Beacon (1) & +1 Octopus (1)
97-105: Octopus
106: +2 Octopus (MAX) & +1 Gaviota (2)
107-110: Gaviota
111: +1 Gaviota (15) & +2 Homing Beacon (3)
112-120: Homing Beacon (MAX)

Skill Distribution at Lvl 120: 151 Points Total
• 20/20 Burst Fire [MAX]
• 26/30 Ice Splitter
• 30/30 Flamethrower [MAX]
• 30/30 Octopus [MAX]
• 15/30 Gaviota
• 30/30 Homing Beacon [MAX]

Build Explanation
All builds start with maxing Burst Fire, which should always be first because it's much stronger than max Double Fire, even at level 1. Its damage is consistently high and serves as your main attack until 4th Job.

Next, 1 point is slapped on Gaviota because it's half as strong as it is at level 30, so it's really worth that 1 point. Many Outlaws have told us about the usefulness of lvl 1 Gaviota, which we highly underestimated, even though anything over level 16 is a huge waste of points. Splitter is raised to 26 afterward because it's a great mob-control move and it freezes. This is amazing at the windraider maps, and once its freeze lasts long enough and hits enough monsters, firebrand-infested maps become godly. Flamethrower is placed after Splitter so you can use the Splitter/Flamethrower mobbing combo and have a fire element on-hand for any fire-weak training monster [Blue Kents, Blue Wyverns]. 1 Homing Beacon is added at 105 simply for its advantage in fighting bosses. Gaviota and Homing Beacon are the lowest skills on the importance scale, which is why they're maxed last. Gaviota only offers minimal assistance while bossing, but the extra damage still makes Gaviota worth using at jr. newties among other places.

In an update on March 15th, we decided to remove the so-called "standard" Outlaw build, which leaves Burner at 11. Reason: that is the worst Outlaw build in GMS. Sniping nightshadows inside their cave still rivals sniping newties by yourself. And later on, using Burner and Triple Fire at the nightshadow map Wrath of Night rivals training at newties [parties and soloing]. Partying at Wrath of Night would probably outrank newtie parties for an Outlaw. As of right now, there are many mob spots that provide amazing %/h by using Cooling and Burner, even on fire-resistant monsters like gobies.

Advancing to 4th Job
To get your 4th job advancement, first head over to El Nath to talk to Pedro [the 3rd job instructor] and then go to "Leafre: Valley of the Antelope". At the very top-right of that map there's a wooden treehouse-like structure. Head inside to see Samuel, the 4th Job Pirate Instructor. He'll ask you to get two items: the Heroic Star and the Heroic Pentagon. To get these two items, you have to either:
• Kill Griffey for a chance to obtain the Heroic Star and kill Manon for a chance to obtain the Heroic Pentagon.
• Give a Secret Spell Scroll to Chief Tatamo of Leafre and he will give you the 2 items.
[Note: To get the scroll, you have to buy it from Vega in the 44th floor of the Eos Tower for 10mil.]
After you get these two items, go back to see Samuel. You'll be rewarded with 4th job, a Maple Hero skill book, and 5 AP/3 SP as a mark of your advancement.

Corsair's Honor
Naturally, we all know that there's always more than one 4th Job build. One that you want to take, and one that you have to take depending on the skills you acquire first. Pirate books are fairly easy to obtain in general though, so you can pretty much just go with what you want to without having to save points waiting for a book.
